L.A. Lights the Way

This project was an entry for the L.A. Lights the Way Competition in 2019 under the professional students category. I worked on this with my freshman roommate at USC and friend Woody Chiang and submitted this entry for the City of L.A. Bureau of Street Lighting.

The street light design overall is modern and slick. Inspired by the new LAX airport lights, the concept is a single fluid design that utilizes a pole with a curved top to act as the extended arm of the street light. The structure itself is made of a recycled aluminum steel alloy that is both strong and lightweight in addition to being environmentally friendly. As for the material of the sunshade, we decided for the fabric to be made from recycled billboards. A 3 feet curved fixture will use a specially constructed panel of high voltage bulbs that conforms to the shape of the pole. Ensuring that the finish should remain smooth and exposed without any need for paint.

Utilized Blender 2.8 to create the 3D models and renderings.
